Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, is one of the most powerful and well-known gods in old Norse (Viking/northern Europe) legends.
Thor lived in Asgard, the home of the gods. He spent much of his time protecting Asgard from dangerous creatures, especially giants who wanted to harm the gods and take over the world.
Thor’s most famous weapon was his magic hammer, Mjölnir. When he threw it, it could bring on thunder and lightning. It was so powerful that it could crush entire mountains. No matter how far Thor threw it, Mjölnir always came back to him, just like a boomerang.
Thor also had a belt of strength, Megingjord, which doubled his power. He also had a pair of iron gloves, Jarngreipr, which helped him throw his hammer.
Thor had many adventures fighting giants and other powerful enemies. One of his greatest foes was Jörmungandr, the World Serpent. This giant snake was so long it wrapped all the way around the Earth. Thor battled Jörmungandr many times and fought many other dangerous creatures along the way.
Even though Thor was known for his strength and bravery, people also loved him for his good heart. He was loyal, fair, and always worked hard to protect others. Thor even has a day of the week named after him. Can you guess which day is Thor's day?
